The University of Alberta is located in Edmonton, Alberta, a city well known for its natural beauty, culture, history and attractions. Edmonton is a city for everyone; it is home to Canada’s largest living history museum, Canada’s largest historical park and North America’s largest mall.

1. North Campus

UofA’s original campus blends the historic with cutting edge: University of  Alberta’s North Campus is located in the province’s capital of Edmonton, on the edge of the North Saskatchewan River valley. It covers 50 city blocks, with abundant green spaces among its 150 buildings. The campus is surrounded by the neighbourhoods of Windsor Park, Belgravia, McKernan and Garneau. Today, the North Campus is a bustling community of some 35,000 students and approximately 7,500 faculty and staff. The North Campus is the hub of the university’s academic and research activities as well as administrative functions.

1. Campus Saint-Jean

The U of A en français — a one-of-a-kind gem in the heart of Edmonton’s francophone community, a short shuttle ride from the North Campus. Campus Saint-Jean offers degree programs in arts, commerce, education, engineering, science, nursing, and conservation and environmental sciences, as well as master’s programs in education and arts.

1. Augustana Campus

Located in Camrose, Augustana Campus offers degree programs in the liberal arts and sciences in an intimate residential learning environment. At Augustana, you can enroll in courses in over 30 areas of study from science to business management to the fine arts and humanities, and take part in unique, hands-on learning opportunities. Specializations include a signature outdoor education program, sport programs, and international study opportunities.

Located on Jasper Ave. Enterprise Square creates a vibrant hub in downtown Edmonton’s historic former Bay Building, Enterprise Square is home to TEC Edmonton, Faculty of Extension, Alberta School of Business executive education and family business programs, Advancement and Alumni Relations.

Much of UofA’s agricultural research takes place at South Campus ‘ Edmonton Research Station. Located about 2.5 km from the Main Campus, South Campus is the location for some of the best agricultural research in North America. A prominent sight on this campus is the Saville Community Sports Centre , a 32,516-square-metre, multi-use recreation centre that is home to 14 varsity athletic teams, several community sports clubs, and the Canadian women’s national basketball team.

Edmonton has activities for everyone! Known as the “Gateway to the North”, Alberta’s capital city is the farthest north of Canada’s major cities and is home to a variety of things to do and places to see.

After-Hours Activities

North Campus is a vibrant community hub throughout the year, with coffee shops and restaurants, theatre, music, and art shows, athletic events, museums and collections, drop-in climbing and fitness, and much more.

North Campus is situated just steps from the restaurants, shopping, and nightlife of the Garneau neighbourhood, Old Strathcona, and Whyte Avenue. Hop on the LRT and cross the river to take in bustling downtown, or explore the beautiful river valley, the largest urban green space in North America.

Sports and Concerts

Rogers Place is a multi-use indoor arena in downtown Edmonton with a capacity of 18,500-20,734 for various events. Their main tenants include the famous hockey franchise, the Edmonton Oilers who play in the National Hockey League and also a Canadian junior ice hockey team, the Edmonton Oil Kings who play in the Western Hockey League.

Musicians including Keith Urban, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Future, Luke Combs, among others have hosted tour dates at Rogers Place.

Outdoor Activities:

Edmonton has more than 160 kilometres of maintained multi-use trails. Go for a leisurely stroll, enjoy a bike ride or inline skate through Edmonton’s beautiful River Valley.

During the winter,  strap on your skis or snowboard and take on a run at Snow Valley Ski Club. Or head downtown to the Edmonton Ski Club where you’ll find 25 acres of machine-made pristine groomed snow (including a mogul run and Terrain Park). You can also ride the slopes at the Rabbit Hill Snow Resort, the largest ski and snowboard resort in the Greater Edmonton Area.

By air:

For those travelling by air, Edmonton’s International Airport is a quick 30-minute drive from the University of Alberta.

By rail:

From the airport, there is a short hour bus + rail ride to campus.

By road:

The campus is a quick 30-min drive from the airport. Use your preferred GPS to drive to the university.
