McGill University is a public research university located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Founded in 1821 by a royal charter granted by King George IV, McGill is one of three universities in the country that were created due to the Royal Charter. McGill's main campus is situated on the slopes of Mount Royal in downtown Montreal, with the secondary campus located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue on the Montreal West Island.
