Sustainable housing and energy systems, informative virtual reality simulations, medical technology that will enhance the care of people around the world, and new software of artificial intelligence and machine learning are all areas where UVIC Engineering and Computer Science are pushing the boundaries of applied science.
UVIC Engineering is known for creating quantifiable solutions to real-world problems and making a huge difference in communities. Are you interested in taking on this same initiative? Want to know how to get into UVIC Engineering? Keep on reading and we’ll tell you everything you need to know!
Skills to be a Stand-Out Applicant to UVIC Engineering
Engineering is a difficult yet rewarding profession. Engineers come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but all must possess a certain level of fundamental knowledge and skills. Students seeking an engineering degree should demonstrate these fundamental abilities in order to be successful in this field of study, and get into UVIC engineering.
- Excellent Computer Skills
Computer skills are required in engineering disciplines. Students should be familiar with fundamental computer science as well as various sorts of computer systems used in their specific field. One aspect of engineering that has now become particularly crucial is computer modelling and coding— having experience in these skills would make you a stand-out student in your application to UVIC Engineering!
2. Advanced Mathematics Knowledge
Engineers of all sorts must be able to do complicated calculations. Undoubtedly, technology and calculators aid in the finding of solutions to math problems, however, in order to receive a reliable output, an engineer needs to know which exact data to enter into the machine. In engineering, it’s critical to comprehend the concepts and computations involved in solving issues and generating designs. Having high grades in mathematic courses is top quality for any UVIC Engineering applicant.
3. Practise Solving Problems
Problem-solving abilities are closely related to care and attention. Engineers must react quickly to challenges and circumstances that develop on a daily basis. There will be moments when you will need to deal with an emergency. To make the smartest, most suitable, and safest judgments, an engineer must approach the situation with a level mind and an analytical perspective. This is a skill that UVIC is looking for in their applicants!
4. Showcase Your Team-Oriented Skillset
Engineers almost never work alone. It’s critical for them to be able to communicate and listen properly as part of a team. They must also work together to arrive at the best answers, therefore compromise is a necessary skill. As a result, effective communication is valued at UVIC engineering, and if you practise this skill, it can heighten your chances of securing a spot at UVIC.
What High school Courses to Take to Get Into UVIC Engineering
You’re probably wondering how you can express those skills above into your application. Well, the best way to showcase these skills will be through your grade transcript!
By showing your success in your high school classes, and receiving a high GPA for your entrance average, you show that you are competent as an engineering student. Therefore, your academics will aid in your chances of getting into the UVIC Engineering program.
