Queen’s Faculty of Engineering has been offering the greatest engineering education in Canada for over a century! With top-quality, and technically intensive engineering programmes, they train students for engagement in a global community. With 4600 high-calibre undergraduate students from around Canada and the world, Queen’s Engineering is a vibrant community.

General Academic Requirements

The following are the general academic requirements for acceptance into Queen’s:

  • A Secondary School Diploma, and six 4U/4M courses.
  • Students must have a minimum of ENG4U and five additional 4U/M courses, except where stated otherwise.
  • Students in francophone schools may offer EAE4U or FRA4U in place of ENG4U.

Engineering Program Requirements

Read below to discover each program and its admission requirements and admission averages:

Engineering and Applied Science (QE)

  • Admission Requirements: English 4U with a minimum grade of 70%, Calculus and Vectors 4U, Chemistry 4U, Physics 4U and Advanced Functions 4U.
  • Competitive Admission Average: Mid-80s — we suggest aiming for a 90%
  • Number of first-year spaces: 70

Electrical and Computer Engineering (QEC)

  • Admission Requirements: English 4U with a minimum grade of 70%, Calculus and Vectors 4U, Chemistry 4U, Physics 4U and Advanced Functions 4U.
  • Competitive Admission Average: High-80s — we suggest aiming for above a 90%
  • Number of first-year spaces: 40

Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering (QEM)

  • English 4U with a minimum grade of 70%, Calculus and Vectors 4U, Chemistry 4U, Physics 4U and Advanced Functions 4U.
  • Competitive Admission Average: High-80s — we suggest aiming for above a 90%
  • Number of first-year spaces: 50

QBridge Engineering (QXE)

  • English 4U with a minimum grade of 70%, Calculus and Vectors 4U, Chemistry 4U, Physics 4U and Advanced Functions 4U.
  • Competitive Admission Average: Low-90s — we suggest aiming for a 95% and above.
  • Number of first-year spaces: 15

Applicants at Queen’s Engineering are admitted based on their GPA and additional information. Applicants with the best overall qualifications will be given priority!

Supplementary Information

Your high school transcript is simply one piece of information that Queen’s will consider when deciding whether or not to admit you.

Each Queen’s candidate has their own To-Do List, which outlines exactly what the institution requires to finalize your application. Your To-Do List (together with the due dates) may be found in your SOLUS Student Centre.

After you apply, Queen’s will provide you with your SOLUS access information!

QBridge is an English language gateway to Queen’s University for students who are academically qualified for admittance to a Queen’s undergraduate program but do not fulfil the English language competence requirement for entrance. Students are linguistically, intellectually, and culturally prepared to complete their Queen’s undergraduate degree studies through the QBridge programmes.
