University of Saskatchewan Physical Therapy: Overview

The School of Rehabilitation Science at the University of Saskatchewan encourages a healthy work environment, lifelong learning, and professional ambitions for Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science students, teachers, and staff.
They have a national and international reputation for preparing high-quality collaborative physical therapy clinicians and rehabilitation researchers who are focused on improving function while promoting optimal ability, mobility, activity, and participation. They have a growing and diverse student body.
The Master of Physical Therapy Program (MPT) is its flagship program, governed by the College of Graduate and Post-doctoral Studies (CGPS).
The MPT Program is designed to provide the graduate with the entry-level clinical requirements to obtain a license to practice physiotherapy in Saskatchewan and Canada.

Why Choose the University of Saskatchewan Physical Therapy?
Each student in the University of Saskatchewan’s M.P.T. program has the opportunity to participate in clinical education, case integration courses, and integrated evaluation!
For two years and six weeks, students enrolled in the M.P.T. course will be involved in academic activities for 11 of the 12 months of the year. Ten courses of varying lengths make up the curriculum. It varies from conventional university programmes in that it offers courses over two semesters (Sept. to Dec., Jan. to April).
Applicants must hold a 4-year baccalaureate degree (in any discipline) from a college or university of acceptable standing.
Human Physiology (6 credit units)
- PHPY 302.3 and one of PHPY 301.3, 303.3, HSC 350.3, NEUR 350.3 (or equivalent*)
- BMSC 207.3/BMSC 208.3
- PHSI 208.6
- or the U of R equivalent, KIN 267 and 268
- normally Exercise Physiology courses are not a substitute for the human physiology requirement
- sample of an approved Human Physiology course
- ACB 310.3 (or equivalent*)
- or the U or R equivalent, KIN 260
- Stats 245.3 or PLSC 214.3 (or equivalent*)
- or the U of R equivalent, STAT 100 and 200
Applicants must seek and receive approval for equivalent courses from the Admissions committee well in advance of application.
Selection for admission is based upon academic assessment and non-academic assessment. The minimum admission average that will be accepted is 75%. The admission average is a weighted average calculated using a minimum of 60 credit units. The most recent credit units at the time of application are used (up to and including term one if currently studying).
