Where is Concordia University?

Concordia University is a public research university in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Concordia was founded in 1974 following the merger of Loyola College and Sir George Williams University. It is one of the three universities in Quebec where English is the primary language of instruction. Concordia has two campuses, set approximately 5 kilometres apart: Sir George Williams Campus has located in Downtown Montreal in an urban environment, while Loyola Campus is located in the residential neighbourhood of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. Concordia also operates out of two facilities in neighbouring suburbs: Grey Nuns and John Molson School of Business Building. As of Fall 2019, there were 47,718 students enrolled at Concordia, making it the second-largest university in Quebec after McGill University. Concordia’s student body is notably diverse, with students hailing from over 150 countries. The university offers over 300 undergraduate and graduate programs and courses, spanning a wide range of disciplines. Concordia’s 200+ clubs and student organizations reflect the diverse interests of its student body and provide opportunities for students to get involved on campus. Concordia University’s athletics teams are known as the Concordia Stingers and compete in CIS sports.

Where is the Main Campus?

The school has two main campuses, along with multiple off-campus buildings. These include the Concordia Stadium and Concordia Centre for Creative Reuse. The two campuses are set approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) apart: Sir George Williams Campus in downtown Montreal and Loyola Campus in the residential neighbourhood of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. Within their two campuses, Concordia is situated on nearly 50 acres of land in the downtown core, between Sherbrooke Street and Ste. Catherine Street. Concordia is easily accessible by public transit, with five metro stations within walking distance of the campus. Concordia also has its own shuttle bus service, which connects the university to major subway and bus lines. The campus is also within walking distance of many of Montreal’s attractions, including the Old Port, Chinatown, and Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. Concordia’s main campus is centrally located and easily accessible, making it a convenient choice for students from all over the world.
