The Faculty of Engineering at Queen’s has been providing the best engineering education Canada has to offer! They prepare students for leadership in a global society with top-quality, technically rigorous engineering programs. Queen’s Engineering is made up of a diverse community with 4600 high-calibre undergraduate students from across Canada and the globe.

Queen’s Engineering General Academic Requirements

To qualify for Queen’s Engineering programs, the general academic requirements are the following:

  • A Secondary School Diploma, and six 4U/4M courses.
  • Students must have a minimum of ENG4U and five additional 4U/M courses, except where stated otherwise.
  • Students in francophone schools may offer EAE4U or FRA4U in place of ENG4U.

Your high school transcript is just one piece of information Queen’s will use when making your admission decision. Each applicant to Queen’s has a unique To-Do List, detailing exactly what the university needs to complete your application. You can see your To-Do List (and the due dates) on your SOLUS Student Centre. Queen’s will send your SOLUS access information to you after you apply.

QBridge is an English language pathway to Queen’s University for students who are academically competitive for admission to a Queen’s undergraduate degree program, but who do not meet the required admission standard for English language proficiency. The QBridge programs ensure that students are linguistically, academically, and culturally prepared to complete their Queen’s undergraduate degree studies. Queen’s Engineering Program Requirements

There are four Engineering Programs offered at Queen’s, and each requires specific requirements! You can learn more about the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science here!

Engineering and Applied Science (QE)

  • Admission Requirements: English 4U with a minimum grade of 70%, Calculus and Vectors 4U, Chemistry 4U, Physics 4U and Advanced Functions 4U.
  • Competitive Admission Average: Mid-80s — we suggest aiming for a 90%
  • Number of first-year spaces: 70

Electrical and Computer Engineering (QEC)

  • Admission Requirements: English 4U with a minimum grade of 70%, Calculus and Vectors 4U, Chemistry 4U, Physics 4U and Advanced Functions 4U.
  • Competitive Admission Average: High-80s — we suggest aiming for above a 90%
  • Number of first-year spaces: 40

Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering (QEM)

  • English 4U with a minimum grade of 70%, Calculus and Vectors 4U, Chemistry 4U, Physics 4U and Advanced Functions 4U.
  • Competitive Admission Average: High-80s — we suggest aiming for above a 90%
  • Number of first-year spaces: 50

QBridge Engineering (QXE)

  • English 4U with a minimum grade of 70%, Calculus and Vectors 4U, Chemistry 4U, Physics 4U and Advanced Functions 4U.
  • Competitive Admission Average: Low-90s — we suggest aiming for a 95% and above.
  • Number of first-year spaces: 15

Applicants for Queen’s Engineering are admitted on the basis of grades as well as supplementary information. Preference is given to applicants with the strongest overall qualifications!
