Getting Around UofT: Transportation Overview
Jesse Liu - June 30th, 2022
UofT transportation is dedicated to providing the University of Toronto community with safe, efficient and sustainable transportation options. The University offers a variety of services, including campus shuttle buses, and carpool matching to help you get around campus and beyond. In addition, we offer a variety of programs and initiatives to help reduce traffic congestion and emissions, such as our Bike Share program and our U-Pass program. Our goal is to make UofT a more sustainable and livable community for everyone.
UofT Public Transportation
UofT Transportation provides a variety of options for getting around campus. The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) operates buses and streetcars that serve UofT, and there is also a subway station located on campus. For students who live off-campus, UofT also provides a shuttle bus service that runs between the campus and residence buildings. In addition, UofT has a fleet of electric vehicles that are available for use by faculty, staff, and students. These vehicles can be rented by the hour or day, and they can be used for both on- and off-campus travel. Finally, UofT provides a carpool program that helps to connect drivers with passengers who are going to the same location. This program is particularly helpful for those who live in areas not well-served by public transit. By providing multiple transportation options, UofT helps to reduce traffic congestion and pollution on campus while making it easy for students, faculty, and staff to get around.
Parking at UofT
University of Toronto’s parking system is designed to provide students, faculty, staff, and visitors with an efficient and convenient parking experience. The University owns and operates a number of surface lots and garages, as well as a limited number of street parking spaces. Parking permits are required in all university-operated parking areas, with the exception of meters and pay-and-display areas. Visitors can purchase a permit in advance or pay the hourly rate at a pay station. There are a variety of permit types available, including daily, monthly, and annual permits. Students and faculty can also purchase semester permits. When choosing a permit type, it is important to consider your needs and budget. For example, daily permits may be more expensive but offer more flexibility than monthly or annual permits. Ultimately, the best way to find the right parking option is to explore all of the options that are available to you. With a little bit of research, you are sure to find the perfect solution for your needs.
