Queen’s Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the Queen’s University student union. It is a not-for-profit organization that represents Queen’s University students and provides them with numerous services and benefits. Queen’s AMS also advocates on behalf of the university students on a variety of issues. One of the main services that the AMS provides is the Queen’s Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). The alma mater society also owns and operates a number of commercial businesses, including the Queen’s Centre, Queen’s Pub, CommonGrounds, and Tricolour Outlet. The profits from these businesses are reinvested back into Queen’s University and its students.

Queen’s AMS Benefits

Queen’s AMS benefits are designed to help students in various ways. The AMS Food Bank is a campus resource that provides non-perishable food items and toiletries to students in need, while the BirdCoop sells gently used textbooks and coursepacks at a fraction of the price of new textbooks. The Queen’s Health Centre is a walk-in clinic that provides Queen’s students with access to primary care services. In contrast, the Queen’s Athletics and Recreation Centre provides facilities for recreational activities and sports. The AMS also offers various financial services, including a student loan program and a credit union. All of these services are designed to help Queen’s students succeed academically, financially, and personally.

How to Be Apart of the Queen’s AMS?

Queen’s AMS is the Queen’s University Alma Mater Society. As such, it represents Queen’s undergraduate students Queen’s in many different ways! The AMS is a great way to get involved with your school and community. There are numerous clubs and teams Queen’s students can join, ranging from academic Queen’s student societies to social clubs. There are also campaigning and volunteering opportunities available within the AMS. Students can also get involved by joining one of Queen’s AMS’ governing bodies! Student representatives sit on various committees and boards within Queen’s AMS, such as the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, or the Human Resources Board. They also represent Queen’s students to the university administration onSenate and act as a liaison between Queen’s students and the Board of Trustees.
