Scholarships to apply to in April 2021

A lot of our students ask us when it is best to apply to scholarships. The answer is now – no matter when you read this. Even though we’re creeping near the end of scholarship season, it is not too late to apply! Here’s our guide to the top scholarship deadlines in April 2021.
2021 BC Tech scholarship
Due on April 15, 2021, The 2021 BC Tech Scholarship boasts awards worth $3,500 for up to 3 current university and college students and $2,500 for up to 3 grade 12 students entering post-secondary. BC Tech is looking for individuals with a 3.2 GPA who have shown passion for the technology sector with a desire to leave an impact in the future of technology.
To apply, write a 1000 word essay about your experiences in the technology sector. Include a copy of your resume, academic scripts, proof of enrolment, and two reference letters.
Scholarship winners will be celebrated at the 2021 Technology Impact Awards.

Gloria Barron Prize
Due on April 15th, The Gloria Barron Prize awards public-spirited youth who have shown initiative and tenacity in community service work within the last 12 months. The winner of The Gloria Barron Prize not only receives a grand prize of $10,000, but also recognition gifts, networking opportunities, media coverage, and Young Heroes materials. To apply, submit a 250 word project summary, a 1,500 word project essay, a letter from a lead reference, two letters of recommendation, and one coloured photo of yourself.

Scotiabank Financial Wellness Scholarship and STEM Scholarships
Scotiabank has partnered with EdTech company myBlueprint to provide EIGHT scholarships worth $30,000 due on April 30, 2021. The scholarships will have two themes; financial wellness, and STEM. Scholarships with be distributed in $3,750 increments and is awarded to Grade 12 students with a myBlueprint account. Among all submitted applications, myBlueprint will randomly draw 100 finalists, who will then write an essay describing the following:
- How they would build a financial plan to help them achieve one of their future goals, whether it be paying for post-secondary education, making a major purchase, like buying a car or home, or travelling abroad after university or college.
or
- Why they chose their STEM discipline, and specifically address the importance of this program and how it will have a positive impact on financial institutions and/or the economy.
Scholarship winners will be awarded on June 30th.

The Fountainhead Essay Contest
The Fountainhead Essay Contest is held by the Ayn Rand Institute with a deadline on April 29, 2021. This Essay Contest boasts 3 prizes, with 9 winners total. First place is worth $5,000 and given to 1 winner, the second place prize is worth $1,000 and given to 3 winners, and third place is worth $500 and given to 5 winners. Applicants of The FountainHead Essay Contest must read The FountainHead by Ayn Rand and write an essay from a selection of topics. The applicant’s response must be clear, articulate, and logically organized. The submitted essay will be judged on whether the student is able to argue for and justify his or her view rather than the Institute’s agreement with the view the student expresses.
