Queen’s University

Queen’s has hundreds of entrance scholarships available for students. Some are awarded based on financial need, such as admissions bursaries and the Promise Scholars Program. Others are awarded based on academic achievement. However, the highest valued awards are given to students with leadership and community involvement experience. They range from $36,000 to $80,000!

Luckily, you can apply to all available awards with just one application—the Major Admission Award (MAA) application.

University of British Columbia

UBC offers $15 million in financial aid to incoming students every year!

Their highest awards are the Presidential Scholars Awards and the UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Award.

Presidential Scholars Awards

The Presidential Scholars Awards are awarded for academic and leadership achievements. You can win a one-time award of $5,000 or you can win renewable awards that can go up to $40,000 (Okanagan campus) and $80,000 (Vancouver campus) towards your degree!

UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Award

The UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Award is awarded to students who show an interest in joining and contributing to the UBC community, but who would not be able to attend without significant financial assistance. They include a mix of one-time and renewable awards that can go up to $80,000!

University of Toronto

UofT offers over 4,400 undergraduate admission scholarships every year! They offer two major entrance scholarships. 

President’s Scholars of Excellence Program

The first is the President’s Scholars of Excellence Program. This provides 150  students with a $10,000 entrance scholarship to use during their first year of studies, as well as other perks like employment and international learning opportunities. 

Toronto Scholars Program

They also offer the University of Toronto Scholars Program. This provides 700 students with a $7,500 scholarship. If you have high community involvement, you could even receive the National Scholarship. This awards 10 students with a full-ride scholarship covering their entire tuition, incidental fees, and residence fees for up to four years. 

You’re automatically considered for most scholarships when you apply for general admission. Be sure to check out their website to double-check the admission deadlines!

McGill University

McGill University offers several levels of major entrance scholarships. They range from $3,000, $5000, $10,000, and $12,000 amounts. The best part is that these awards are renewable, meaning you’ll receive the scholarship each year of your degree as long as you continue to meet their requirements. 

There are several deadlines to apply, depending on where you’re applying from:

  • Quebec CEGEP students: March 7
  • Rest of Canada: February 7
  • Outside of Canada: January 21

Simon Fraser University

SFU offers many Undergraduate Scholars Entrance Scholarships. These awards range from $10,000 to your entire undergraduate tuition cost! Many bursaries are available based on financial need, while others are reward academic excellence and community service. 

This year’s application deadline is December 15, 2020. Check their website for more information!

Ryerson University

Ryerson offers three main Prestigous Entrance Awards for incoming students! Their highest awards are $10,000 renewable. Meaning if you meet their requirements, you can receive $40,000 over the course of your degree!

University of Ottawa

UOttawa’s largest award is the Schulich Leader Scholarship! Offered conjointly with the Schulich Leader Foundation, this award provides $80,000 to $100,000 to incoming students within Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) programs.

University of Alberta

Around 1 in 5 first-year students receive a scholarship at UofA! They have many awards based on academics, leadership, and financial need. Their highest awards are the Government of Alberta Undergraduate Academic Scholarships and Leadership Awards.
