Did you know that your bank doesn’t just hold your money, but can also give you money in the form of scholarships? Bank scholarships are available to students across Canada, with applications ranging from an extensive resume to nothing but a bank account! Here are the scholarships offered by the top six banks in Canada.
1. TD Bank
Out of all the bank scholarships in Canada, TD Bank offers the largest! The TD Scholarship for Community Leadership not only provides top students with up to $70,000 over four years, but also offers of summer employment within TD and access to a network of national leaders. Only 20 students across Canada win this award, so you will need strong volunteer involvement in your community.
2. Royal Bank of Canada (RBC)
RBC offers four scholarship programs for high school and university students ranging from $1,500 to $16,000. With a total of over 500 awards available, this is a great opportunity to finance your education. If your parent is an RBC employee, you are Indigenous, or you meet their diversity criteria, be sure to apply to their scholarships just for you!
If you’re looking for a quick and easy application, be sure to apply for the CIBC Full Ride Scholarship! All you need to do is be a member of the Student Life Network and open an account with CIBC for a chance at $35,000.
By our count, Desjardins offers the most bank scholarships in Canada! Hundreds of scholarships are available for students at all levels of study—from vocational training and CEGEP to doctoral programs. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, a commitment to their studies, and community involvement to be eligible. Scholarships are available in $1,000 to $10,000 awards.
5. Bank of Montreal (BMO)
BMO sponsors scholarships specifically for Indigenous students and students with disabilities! Each award starts at nearly$7,000. Visit their partner organizations for further details on how to apply!
6. Credit Unions
Lastly, a great hidden source of bank scholarships is your local credit union! They often have great scholarship opportunities that require easy applications. An example of this is the Interior Savings Million Dollar Bursary that gives out 1000 awards and only requires an active free account!
