If you’re an athlete, there are lots of opportunities available for you to win scholarships! Whether you play soccer or badminton, there are scholarship opportunities for you. To help you start your scholarship process, here are some of the top scholarships for BC athletes!

1. Soccer

Some of the most popular scholarships for BC athletes are soccer scholarships! BC Soccer provides great opportunities for athletes. Each year, they offer 24 scholarships to student-athletes across BC! Apply on their website by May each year for your chance to win. 

2. Volleyball

If you play volleyball, be sure to apply to the Volleyball BC scholarship! In honour of Ray Lepp, one of their founding members, they provide scholarships to two young athletes. Each award is valued at $2,000. Be sure to get your application in before the October deadline! 

3. Basketball

BC student-athletes who play basketball can apply for one of five scholarships offered by Basketball BC! In memory of two former teachers and coaches, each award is valued at $1000. Get your application in by June each year!

4. Cross Country

BC Cross Country offers two scholarships each year! Be sure to complete their short application and submit it by mid-December for a chance at $1000.

5. Rugby

British Columbia Secondary Schools Rugby Union offers $500 scholarships for BC athletes! Students who also referee have double the chances to receive a scholarship as they offer opportunities for both athletes and referees. 

6. Badminton

If badminton is your sport, you’re in luck! The Bert & Greta Quartermaine scholarship fund offers $6,000 in scholarships each year. Six awards are handed out, each valued at $1,000. Visit BC School Sports to apply!

7. Curling

BC curlers can access $25,000 in scholarships for their post-secondary! For the Love of Curling offers ten scholarships valued at $2,500 each. Visit their website for more information on how to apply!
