UBC Student Population: Overview

UBC is one of the world’s leading research universities, with more than 80% of UBC students engaged in some form of research during their studies. The university is known for its size and the UBC student population. UBC’s research excellence has been recognized internationally, with UBC ranked among the world’s top 40 universities for research impact. UBC’s academic programs are also highly respected, with the university consistently ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. UBC offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as professional programs such as law and medicine. As one of Canada’s largest universities, UBC enrolls over 70,000 students from across Canada and 140 countries worldwide. UBC is also home to a vibrant student community, with over 350 student clubs and organizations. UBC students are known for their academic excellence, global citizenship, and commitment to making a positive difference.
Undergraduate Student Population at UBC
UBC has a large and diverse student population, with students coming from all over the world to pursue their studies. The majority of undergraduate students are from Canada, but there is also a significant number of international students. UBC’s undergraduate student population is just over 60,000, with about two-thirds of students pursuing their studies full-time. The average age of UBC undergraduates is about 20 years old. UBC offers a wide range of programs at the undergraduate level, and students can choose to pursue their studies in arts, sciences, commerce, engineering, or health sciences. UBC’s academic reputation is excellent, and the university consistently ranks among the top public universities in North America. UBC is a large and vibrant community, and its undergraduate student population plays a big role in making it such an exciting and dynamic place to learn and live.
Where Do UBC Students Come From?
UBC students come from all over the world. As of 2019, 28% of the UBC student population are international students. UBC’s Vancouver campus is located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Musqueam people. UBC has two other campuses: UBC Okanagan in Kelowna and UBC Robson Square in Vancouver. UBC enrols approximately 60,000 students across its three campuses. UBC’s main campus is situated in Point Grey, a neighbourhood on Vancouver’s west side. The UBC campus is large, containing over 30 academic buildings and facilities, student residences, athletics facilities, libraries and more. UBC Okanagan is located in Kelowna, a city in British Columbia’s Okanagan valley. The UBC Okanagan campus is much smaller than the Vancouver campus, with approximately 10,000 students enrolled. UBC Robson Square is located in Vancouver’s downtown core and is home to UBC’s Continuing Studies and Executive Education programs.
