McGill Entrance Awards

McGill Entrance Awards are just some of the financial aid options available at McGill. These awards are available to students who demonstrate academic excellence. These awards are based on a student’s performance in their final year of secondary school and are intended to encourage students to pursue studies at McGill. The awards are open to students of all disciplines and are typically awarded during the fall admission cycle.

• To be eligible, students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.7 and submit a complete application by the deadline.
• Eligible candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and must be entering McGill as full-time first-year students in an undergraduate degree program.

McGill’s Scholarships and Student Aid Office offers merit-based entrance scholarships to first-time university students entering a full-time undergraduate degree program.

There are two types of centrally-administered entrance scholarships:

• One-year Scholarships, valued at $3,000 (non-renewable)
• Major Scholarships, valued between $3,000 and $12,000 (renewable annually up to 3 or 4 years provided criteria for renewal are met)

McGill One-year entrance scholarships (value: $3,000)

All applicants to McGill undergraduate degree programs are automatically considered for a one-year entrance scholarship provided they meet these minimum academic requirements.

McGill Major entrance scholarships (value: $3,000, $5,000, $10,000 or $12,000 renewable)

McGill’s major entrance scholarships are determined by selection committees and awarded on the basis of academic achievement and outstanding leadership in school or community activities.

Faculty-specific Entrance Scholarships

Certain faculties at McGill offer their own faculty-specific entrance scholarships. These faculties include Music, Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences, Law and Medicine. You should consult individual faculty websites and admissions offices for more information! Please note that these scholarships are not transferable should you change your faculty.
