These scholarships are given out based on academic achievement and are meant to encourage and make it possible for deserving students to continue their education at McGill. McGill Entrance Scholarships

McGill Entrance Scholarships are just some of the financial aid options available at McGill. These awards are based on a student’s performance in their final year of secondary school and are intended to encourage students to pursue studies at McGill. The awards are open to students of all disciplines and are typically awarded during the fall admission cycle. Some of the scholarships are renewable, while others are one-time awards. To be considered for these scholarships, students must submit an application by a specified deadline.

McGill Major Entrance Scholarship

The most prestigious entrance scholarship at McGill is the Major entrance scholarship, valued in a range of $3,000, $5,000, $10,000 or $12,000 renewable.

These $12,000 scholarships are only available to Canadian citizens or legal permanent residents of Canada! Major entrance scholarships are determined by selection committees and awarded on the basis of academic achievement and outstanding leadership in school or community activities. Emphasis is especially placed on academic excellence as the first priority, followed by demonstrated leadership.

To apply to this major entrance scholarship:

• A separate application is required soon after the submission of your application for admission. Please consult the deadline dates here.
• To determine if you may qualify, please review the minimum academic requirements.

Also, students who apply for, but do not receive a major scholarship will automatically be considered for a one-year entrance scholarship.

Major entrance scholarships are renewable for up to 3 or 4 years provided criteria for renewal are met.
